Printable Minecraft Diamond Invitations

Here’s a new free printable Minecraft-inspired birthday invitation! I made two variations of this invitation so you can choose the design that fits your needs. Both invitations have a diamond ore patterned border with a white space in the middle for your party details.

This invitation design says “You’re Invited” in a Minecraft-style font, and has places for you to write in your party information, such as where, when, and how to RSVP.

Summer Vacation Time Management Worksheet

I’m not one of those moms who look forward to spending a long, lazy summer vacation at home with the kids. I’m one of those moms who wish the kids could stay in school all summer long.

I love my kids, but I don’t love having them all around the house, all day, every day, all summer. So I make schedules for them. They’re not too rigorous or inflexible, but it helps prevent too much milling around the house in boredom. It also alleviates some of the zombie-eyed screen infatuation, by making them do things outdoors and away from electronics.

Here is a worksheet I put together this morning. The kids resist having all of their time managed by Mom, because it feels too much like school and not enough like vacation. I’m hoping that this system will be a good compromise, allowing them to have some control over their time, while still fitting in the things I feel are essential, such as personal hygiene, nutrition, brain exercise, and outdoor fun.

It’s free to download and print, and you can also customize it for your own family. If you find it helpful, please leave a comment and/or share a link to this post with your friends. Happy vacationing!

Minecraft Birthday Party

Minecraft partyMy middle son just turned twelve, and we had a Minecraft birthday party for him. He chose the theme, and set up the LAN game for his friends. My part in the celebration was to provide Minecraft decorations and treats. Challenge accepted!

First of all, let me admit that I’m not a super-crafty “Pinterest” mom who does this kind of thing very often. But since this boy didn’t get a birthday party last year, I felt like making a bit more effort for him this time. The project ended up being really fun, and he was excited about the results.

Since I had to search and gather the elements for these crafts, I figured I’d put them together to share. If anybody else wants to use them, go right ahead. I hope you enjoy these free Minecraft printables.

Minecraft Birthday Invitations

Here is the invitation I made: Blank Minecraft Printable Invitation. I found a Minecraft dirt and grass background, put a text box on top of it, and then just printed it out. I downloaded a free Minecraft font to use for the text.

Minecraft Potion Bottle Labels

These cute bottles of punch are just perfect for little Minecraft potion labels. The kids thought they were amazing! It was quite easy to make them. I found images of the different Minecraft potions, put them into rows on a page, printed it, cut it into strips, wrapped them around the bottles, and taped them together in the back.

Minecraft Creeper Face Cupcake Picks

Print this page of Creeper faces onto cardstock, cut the faces apart, and tape them onto toothpicks. Then poke the picks into your cupcakes or other treats.

You can also print this onto plain paper and cut strips of faces to wrap around water bottles or other drinks. The kids love “Creeper Juice.”

Those are all of the printables I made for this Minecraft party. I’ll do a separate post on how I made the dirt and grass blocks. They were cute and delicious (and gluten-free, if you’re concerned with that kind of thing). [UPDATE] Here is the recipe for the Minecraft dirt and grass treats!

Summer Schedule Printable

summer schedule printable Even though it’s summer vacation, my kids and I need some structure to our days. To aid my never-ending battle against entropy, I put together this schedule this morning. Though the kids say it’s too much like school, it makes sense to have something down on paper.

This reminds us what needs to be done each day, and still leaves time for “recess,” video games, and time to be bored. “Mom School” is my name for the little bits of academic review we do (math facts, mostly).

I’m sharing this here in case it helps your family, too. Put it into a plastic page protector or laminate it, to keep it from being destroyed too quickly. If you cover it with plastic, you could even use a transparency marker to cross off the completed tasks and wipe it off for re-use at the end of the day.

Enjoy!
