The cartoon xkcd is one of my favorite nerdy comics. For your Friday fun, here is a strip about Minecraft. The moral of the story: don’t let your noob friends into your Minecraft world while they’re recovering from wisdom teeth extraction.
I don’t run. There are many reasons why I don’t like running. For example… I hate sweating. I’m chubby. My boobs are too big and my legs are too short.
I forced myself to run in college, but that was a long time ago.
A couple of days ago, I read the latest Oatmeal comic, which is entitled, “The terrible and wonderful reasons why I run long distances.” The author, a runner of multi-k races, marathons, ultras, and other foot-powered adventures, illustrates and explains why he runs. Besides the running part, I can totally relate to his reasons!
“I am The Blerch.”
So, whether you love running or hate it, take a look at the post. I think you’ll like it. It almost makes me want to start running.
Picture yourself sitting on a small wedding chair, watching the bride and groom smiling and holding hands at the altar. It’s uncomfortably warm, and you start to perspire and doze, and… [cue dreamlike music and wavy screen effects]
Hi. My name is Heather, and I’m a Facebook addict.
You know how it is when you first join Facebook, and you go a little bit crazy with everything? It’s fun, it’s novel, and you click “Like” and “Share” and you “Poke” your friends all the time? You know, right? It’s not just me. (That’s what I tell myself…)
So it’s normal for Facebook newbies to go nuts at first, with the games and sharing features. But you know there are a few people who take the craziness to an extreme. They never outgrow those noobish tendencies, and they drive people crazy by flooding the news stream with their stuff.
That is one way to suck at Facebook. And the folks over at theoatmeal.com have cleverly illustrated several more, in user-friendly, very shareable cartoons here: How to Suck at Facebook. So check them out and be sure you send them to all your friends so they show up in the news stream! 😉 And by the way, I’m not going to stop poking my friends.
