I’ve been awarded Mother of the Year! It must be true, because I saw it on the internet… Well, okay. I’m not really that great of a mother. How bad is it that my idea of a nice Mother’s Day would be to spend it alone, without my kids? (I’m half-serious.)
Okay, that sounds terrible. But before you judge me, I dare you to walk a mile in my flip flops, wearing my baggy “yoga pants” (mom code for “it’s too hot for sweatpants, but I have to cover up my unshaven legs”), a faded and spit-up stained maternity shirt (even though you haven’t been pregnant in years), and bad bed head, with three kids pulling on your collar and hanging onto your arms and repeating an unsynchronized and dissonant chorus of “mom mom mom” in your ears until you can’t hear yourself think… Whoa! Deep breaths.
I know I’m not the only one out there who could stand a little quiet time.
One of my real Supermom friends sent me a link to a personalized Mother of the Year video, and I had to share it with my fellow moms, geeks, and everybody out there who has a mom. Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers out there, Super and less-than-super. Someday, we’ll miss the “mom mom mom” noise, and all the other messy, fun, unpredictable stuff that comes with motherhood. And just for the record, I love my kids more than life. I’d just like to have the bathroom to myself for a few minutes. 🙂
If you aren’t a fan of Rob Pattinson, you might not appreciate this, but I’ve thought Rob was cute since I saw him as Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (get it from Amazon).
So when I heard Rob will be playing my favorite vampire, Edward Cullen, in the upcoming Twilight movie, I was excited! He’s not baby-face cute, but more chiseled and handsome. Still, when he smiles, he has a bit of youthful mischief in his eyes, which makes him even more appealing.
I’m looking forward to seeing how he portrays Edward in Twilight, since he will have to be gentle, powerful, old, young, dangerous, and beautiful, all at the same time. If you haven’t read the books yet, you might enjoy a nice vampire romance…
Oh yeah, and thanks to Squidoo for awarding Lens of the Day to my Rob Pattinson page! Yippee!
And for your listening pleasure while reading the Twilight books, I’ve put together a bunch of songs that I associate with some of the scenes, characters, and emotions involved in the stories. Enjoy!
I found out this morning that one of my Squidoo pages has been awarded “Lens of the Day!” I’m so excited. What a nice way to start the day. The winning lens is called How to dispose of batteries properly, and it has lots of information on batteries, recycling, and switching to rechargeables. If your home is full of gadget geeks like mine is, you probably go through lots of batteries, too. That was what inspired me to make this page. I hope you find it informative! 🙂
And while we’re at it, GeekMomMashup has been awarded two other honors from fellow bloggers. I’m always pleasantly surprised to find out that people enjoy visiting here, and I’m very grateful for these awards. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
The Sweet Home Blogger award came to me (twice!) from Nodin’s Nest and Boutique Flair, and the Arte y Pico award came from The Modern Historian.
GeekMomMashup is now being displayed on Alltop, the “digital magazine rack” of the Internet. Yaay! The Alltop team selects the best sites, regardless of whether they are big or small, and loves to find hidden gems. I’m flattered that they like my little nugget of geeky goodness. Thanks, Alltop!
Loretta, over at Blogs We Luv, has posted a very thoughtful, well-researched, and positive review of GeekMomMashup. It was completely unsolicited, unexpected, and a wonderful pick-me-up after a through-the-ringer kind of morning. Thank you, Loretta!
A while back, I did a post on the Hey Monkeybrain pagebuilder at Squidoo. It lets you host a debate on whatever topic you choose.
To try it out, I made a fun page about how “Google is Evil.” And guess what… Now, that Evil Google Monkeybrain page is in the Top 50 at Monkeybrain debate central! In fact, as of today, it is Number 9!
The Squidoo team sent me this nice Monkeybrain badge to show off, so here it is. If you haven’t tried Squidoo yet, you should check it out. It’s free, easy, addictive, and completely legal!
Hey, have you said “Monkeybrain” lately? It’s kind of fun. 🙂
Woohoo! I got a mention over at creativetexturetools.com, a site featuring all things polymer metal clay and lots more, including jewelrymaking and online selling. My shop at smallandsimplegifts.com was named Artist Website of the Week! You can read the blog entry here. And while you’re there, check out the other useful stuff Elaine has compiled. Thank you, Elaine!
