About
Hi there! I’m GeekMom (aka Heather Saigo Weaver), and Geek Mom Mashup is my blog. In the real world, I’m a wife and mother. I have three kids (kind of like monkeys jumping on the bed), obsessive-compulsive disorder, lots of hobbies, and a pet Wii. When I’m not at my iMac, I like to make jewelry (like Bella Bracelets and Twilight stuff), crochet and watch Battlestar Galactica, Lost, or The Office with Hubby. I also have a Twilight shop, and I donate some of my handmade blankets to the Riley Hospital for Children and Soldiers’ Angels.
In my pre-mommy life, I was an enthusiastic science student and lab nerd. I have two dusty diplomas to show for it — a B.S. in biology, and an M.S. in environmental science and policy analysis. For a peek into my personal quirkiness, check out my new Heather Weaver site.
Thanks for stopping by!
WELCOME! I can't teach you how to monetize your blog, but I can offer you some mostly intelligent conversation, moderately geeky tech talk, very funny mom stories, with the occasional rant thrown in for sanity. I'm so glad you're here!

Great site! I am glad you came by so I could find this place! Quite geeky myself… I love your (family’s?) Mii’s!
Take care.

Yes, those are Mii representations of my Hubby and kids. I think they’re pretty cute.
Hi Heather,
I noticed you on Posh Mama and had to see your site. It’s wonderful! I’m just starting mine and although it looks pretty now, it has a long way to go.
I’m working with Project Wonderful right now for ads…
My question is about iWeb. It doesn’t look like you use iWeb for your site. I’m finding it isn’t offering me as much wiggle room as I want.
Do you have any suggestions on the hosting site you use? Or where to go from here?
Thanks, Mel
Hi Mel,
No, this isn’t an iWeb site. I used to use GoDaddy for my hosting, but have moved most of my domains to HostGator. I still have my craft shop on GoDaddy, and it works fine. I think either of them would be fine to host a blog. They both have easy installation of blog software. This one uses WordPress, and I have been very pleased with the ease of installation and customization. Lots of free templates and sidebar widgets available for WP too. Let me know if you need more info. I’m no expert, but I’m happy to tell you what I know.
I really enjoyed your site - -
