Summer Vacation, Already? Inconceivable!

Wading and Camping at Turquoise Lake

How did this happen? My kids will be out of school in a day and a half, and then we’ll have a whole summer of family togetherness. Every day, we’ll be together for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Plus, since the days are so long and beautiful, and the sun doesn’t set until almost 9 p.m., we’ll have extra quality time in the evenings!

I love my children to bits. All three of them. Really, they are my greatest joy in life.

But there is a limit to the amount of time a person can spend in the presence of so much joy. Seriously!

We have plans for swim lessons, camping, a family reunion, and visits from grandparents to help occupy the hours this summer. I’m looking forward to (almost) all of it. :-) What do you have planned for the long summer days? Any favorite activities or tips to prevent the “Mom, I’m bored!” doldrums?

Good I’m glad others feel the same way. We are signed up for storytime at three different libraries. Seriously.

I know as happy as I am that all the craziness and homework is about to end. Now I’ll have to find ways to entertain them. They will be content for about a week then they will need to be entertained. Not to mention they will miss their friends. I do love the summer though.

Oops, delete that last comment. I was saying now that my kids are teens I like to take them on group outings with their friends, like to water parks or fairs or to the movies.

As much as I love my kids plus the fact that I will take a break from all the extra work of preparing for school every morning, I am at a loss as to what to do to keep them entertained. Teenagers just would rather hang out with their friends and so I allow them to. Summers are spent on short vacations then back to the city where they can socialize.
