You Can’t Buy a Piece of My Heart, but…

by GeekMom on January 18, 2008

You can buy a piece of my sidebar! ;-) Yes, you can now purchase a square (125 x 125) in my sidebar, under the clearly labeled “Paid Adverts” heading. Ads will be auctioned through Project Wonderful. We’ll see how it goes. If you’d like to share your experience with the Project Wonderful system, I’d love to hear your comments. Thanks!

Never heard of that one before.
Seems to work when I look at your sidebar :)

Cool! It looks like a really great little system. Bidding on the spots. I might place a bid, just because I like the idea of it so much!

I’m seeing these more and more now. Is it safe to assume you can actually make some money off this?

Well, I’ve been using the Project Wonderful widget for maybe a week, and so far, my ad price has gone from $0.02 per day to $0.60 per day. I guess that’s good. I’ve limited my slots to two little squares, because I don’t like clutter. Also, I think it’s nicer to my advertisers, because people are blind to large blocks of ads.

I’ve seen some sites with lots of ad slots, and I assume that as long as you have some good traffic, you can attract advertisers to fill them. Some of the popular spots are going for $1.00 per day and up over $15. I like the auction system, because the pricing takes care of itself, and it seems pretty fair.

Too early to make a final determination on whether it’s a big moneymaker. I put in $5.00 to start with, and I haven’t had to add any more. I haven’t broken even yet, but I’m headed that way. Better than Adsense, so far. :-)
