GeekMom: Now With More Linky “Luv”

by GeekMom on January 10, 2008

commentluv hereYes, GeekMom now offers double the love to readers who leave comments, thanks to a nifty plugin called CommentLuv. I don’t know exactly how it works, but it’s easy to download and install on WordPress, and it was written by Andy Bailey.

Now when you post a comment, you can check a box to “enable CommentLuv,” which will display the title of your latest blog post as a link. That’s a free text link directly to your post — not just to the front page of your blog — and that’s in addition to the link you can include with your name. You get two links for the price of one comment! Isn’t that sweet?

It’s not supposed to slow down loading of the site at all, although it may take some number of seconds for the thing to hunt down your feed once you post your comment. Give it a try and let me know what you think! Thank you!

I just installed this “commentluve” plugin myself, I think it should be a wonderful thing! I also installed another one, mine is called “No Follow Free” but there is another that I saw called “Do Follow”, in case you don’t know, as I didn’t, these blogs have a “No Follow’ restriction that keeps the search engines from following the links on your blog. The plugins I mentioned eliminate this. It is hard enough to get people to comment, they might do it more if there was a “bonus’! I’m hoping so, that is why I installed it!

I installed this too after coming across it on your site, it’s increased the number of comments on one of my sites by around 400% although it’s really hard to tell if they’re genuine or just commenting to get a link….

Another good thing I like about the plugin is that it makes blog hopping a lot more interesting.

I have the commentluv installed on my blog aswell but not really to increase the number of comments on my blog, I personally like to check out what commentators on my blog are writing themselves and find that the commentluv plugin is great for doing so on the instant :)
